Hey guys, first of all, thank you so much for the support you've given to the People Of Faith team in our clothing launches, blogs, and everything else we do. It means the world to myself and everyone else that pours into this brand.
Second of all, this will be the first blog of a NEW series that I will be bringing to you guys, along with my original series, Building A Faith, called The Letterhead.
The Letterhead will be centered around my day-to-day life and the things that I am learning and the Lord is teaching me through my job, personal life, relationships, and more. I hope that these blogs will be interesting to you and that through this you guys may be able to learn from my successes and mistakes to grow closer to Christ.
-----------------------------------
As some of you may know, I am currently employed by my alma mater, Erskine College, and am working in the athletic department as the Assistant Sports Information Director. My day-to-day job is centered around the game-day operations, marketing, and promotion of Erskine's 27 college sports teams. It is an awesome job, but at some points, when our teams aren't playing games on campus, it gets a bit uneventful. This week has been one of those weeks, and the rest and ability to refocus that has come from this week have been extremely good for me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my work and I honestly love when I am busy and moving, but in those times when I find myself extremely focused on the things around me, I tend to lose focus on the progression of my faith and putting the time in to do that.
If you know me, you know that I am the farthest thing from a creature of habit, but forcing myself into the healthy habits of designating a time of day to sit down, be quiet, and read and pray is something that I have to be better at...it's a necessity. We all know it is so easy to push our time for God out on the days that things get busy, but to me over this last week, I have realized that it is just as easy, if not far easier, to push time for God out when we have nothing else to do. It's scary and in truth, shows me how much my priorities still need to change and how much my heart still needs to be reoriented to His Will over my own. As far as I am concerned, until we are living every second of every day completely for Him, we aren't doing it right.
THIS WEEK'S GOAL
With each blog post that I write under The Letterhead, I'll be giving a tangible, reachable goal for myself and I invite you guys to come along too, keep me accountable, and give me feedback on how you succeeded and how you struggled.
My goal for this week is to pray a prayer of thanks every time that I hit a less active part of my day and every time that His Glory comes to my mind. I want to use this as both a goal and a measuring stick, to try and see how much I truly recognize God's presence in my everyday life.
